There is no direct train service link to Phuket Island. The nearest connection to/from the State Railways of Thailand is at Phun Phin railway station near Surat Thani, or the main Surat Thani railway station. There are 10 trains a day, in each direction, between Bangkok and Surat Thani which includes 5 trains a day continuing "south" to Hat Yai near the Malaysian border. One of the southbound trains continues over the border in to Malaysia and terminates at Butterworth Station where you can get transportation to Penang Island or change to another train onwards to Kuala Lumpur and directly through to Singapore.
